Ship Reporting System

May 12, 2017|

The global shipping dynamic reporting System was the first to gather dynamic data from the communications network established by Lloyd's in early 18th century in an important global location. Since 1930, some shipping companies have stipulated that ships must regularly report their position, heading and speed to the company. 1958, the US Coast Guard launched an automated merchant shipping reporting system to improve ship search and rescue. The current ship reporting system is used by IMO, requiring ships to provide, collect or exchange information through radio reports for search and rescue, transport services, weather forecasts and the prevention of maritime contamination.
