How to detect the sensitivity of the compass of the yacht magnetic compass?

The prerequisite for the sensitivity check is that the ship is fixed at the dock, the ship direction is fixed, or the ship is docked at the dock near the ship, and the ship or shore machinery is not working.

     The method of detecting the sensitivity of the yacht magnetic compass:

     1. Accurately record the course indicated by the compass baseline;

     2. Use a small magnet or iron to offset the compass from the original balanced position to the left by 2°-3°;

     3. Remove the small magnet or iron, and observe whether the compass returns to the original course;

     4. Then repeat the above steps to the right.

     The error of the compass returned to the original course should not exceed 0.2°. If the sensitivity of the compass does not meet the requirements, find out the cause and repair it in time.

     The reason for checking the sensitivity is to detect the magnitude of the frictional force between the shaft needle and the shaft cap. When the frictional force is large, it will directly affect the indication accuracy of the compass.
